Who is family?

Misled and Lost

Now the only fact or truth I have in life left are my truths and my facts. The journey of life has taken unexpected turns, leaving me with memory loss. As I grapple with this new reality, my thoughts turn to my five children. What will they remember? Will they uphold the truth or succumb to the temptation of embellishment?

Will they remember and state facts or will they tell their children/grandchildren what they want to believe happened? This question haunts me as I contemplate the legacy I will leave behind. Family stories have a way of evolving over time, morphing into something unrecognizable from their original form. Will my children fall prey to this pattern, distorting the truth to suit their own narratives?

Family is supposed to be the cornerstone of our lives, a source of unconditional love and support. But what happens when the foundation begins to crumble? When memory fades and the past becomes a hazy haze of forgotten moments, it becomes easy to rewrite history.

But let us not be misled. Let us not be lost. It is our duty to preserve the truth, to honor the experiences that have shaped us. Memory loss may rob us of our recollections, but it cannot erase the impact those memories had on our lives.

In a world where alternative facts and fake news run rampant, it is more important than ever to hold steadfast to the truth. Our children are the torchbearers of our legacy, entrusted with the responsibility of passing down our stories to future generations. It is their duty to remember, to state the facts without distortion.

So, my dear children, listen closely. Remember and retell the stories as they were, without embellishment or fabrication. Your children and grandchildren deserve to know the truth, to understand the struggles, triumphs, and lessons that have shaped our family.

As the sands of time continue to shift, let us not be swayed by the temptation to rewrite our history. Let us stand firm in our commitment to truth, for it is in the truth that our family’s identity resides.

Remember, my children, that the truth is a powerful force that can withstand the test of time. It is the thread that binds us together, anchoring us to our shared past. Embrace it, protect it, and pass it on. Only then can we ensure that our family’s legacy remains untarnished, a beacon of truth in a world that often seeks to mislead and distort.

“Your word is your bond, stay true!”
