Redefining Leisure as a Mother

What do you enjoy doing most in your leisure time?

Leisure time looks different when you’re a mother.

For me, it isn’t something separate or scheduled neatly on a calendar. It’s something I’ve learned to weave into the same world as my kids. Quiet moments in the middle of noise. Small pauses inside busy days. Finding peace where we already are instead of waiting for it to magically appear.

I’ve realized that leisure doesn’t always mean escaping my responsibilities. Sometimes it means slowing down just enough to breathe, to notice, to be present. To enjoy the simple comfort of being together, even while life is still moving around us.

I don’t spend much time away from my kids, so my version of leisure has become less about “time off” and more about finding calm and joy in the everyday moments we share. That’s where I feel most grounded. That’s where rest shows up for me.

And honestly, that’s enough.
